Springerville/Eagar area is a bedroom community to two coal-fired power
plants, presently being expanded. The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests supervisor's office is
located in Springerville. The White Mountains are home to the largest
Ponderosa Pine forest in the United States.
This area was originally called
Milligan Settlement and then 'Valle Redondo' or Round Valley by early settlers
and pioneers. In April 1876, Henry Springer, a merchant from
Albuquerque opened a large store and contracted for all the grain Round Valley
